I am deeply humbled to have been appointed as an interim Township Supervisor following the untimely passing of Supervisor Charles “Zeke” Bellis.
In 2023, Zeke and I were opponents in the primary election to succeed retiring Supervisor Ann Marie Panella. Early in that race, Zeke warmly signed my petition, reminding me that even as competitors, our contest would be friendly and grounded in respect. He kept true to that word. When the votes were counted, I congratulated him sincerely, grateful for the example he set. That is how politics should be conducted—with kindness, fairness, and community at the center.
It is not lost on me what it means to step into this role after someone so admired and respected. I consider it both a privilege and a responsibility to serve as Zeke’s successor, and I am committed to honoring his legacy of service while bringing my own dedication and perspective to the board.
I look forward to engaging with you throughout this shortened campaign season and sharing why I am the right candidate to continue serving Palmer Township with integrity, dedication, and vision.
With gratitude,
Supervisor Baron Vanderburg
